Summer Fun

A few weeks ago Joelle and I attended a dance concert up at CU. While it was fun for me, she's not a huge fan of modern dance. Regardless, we started talking about our desire to see more theater. That got us talking and I ended up budgeting for some summer events we wanted to attend. I figured I'd post it here and see if anyone else is interested in attending some of these before we start looking at specific dates and buying tickets.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - It's being performed at the little theater of the rockies up in Greeley from June 17 - 21. I don't know ticket prices yet but I'd guess around $25? I know Shane was interested in coming to this.

Forever Plaid - Also up in greeley, probably the same price. Dates are July 29th - August 2nd. Last time UNC did this show it was amazing. It's the same director as before so I am guessing it will be just as good. I'd guess prices are around the same.

Big River - Performed at the Arvada center. July 14th - August 9th. Tickets are a bit more expensive to this one, around $45-$50.

Richard Cheese - August 29th at the Gothic. Tickets are $35. I've always wanted to see him in concert and this is his last tour because of vocal cord issues.

Anyway, if anyone is in interested in seeing some theater, shoot me an e-mail and we can figure out dates/times.

Thanks!

Mike

Taking the bus back from the Magic Kingdom after a fireworks show is the best birth control one could hope for....

Imagine a bus full of tired children of all ages that are wet and tired from a long day at disney. Then realize if you are one of these children and you never want to leave the magic kingdom but your parents are making you.

Yep..a bus full of that makes someone never want to have kids. :) There are magical times here that I wish my friends could experience...Rayn, Owen, Wendy....I'm sure they would really love it here. But for me I'll bring my friends kids here everytime. :) I don't need to have my own kids to do that....

Mike

I wish I weighed myself before this trip...

I swear..the food at disney, most of it is not the best for you. But they do have some good options....apple slices rather than fries, more hummus here at the Animal kingdom lodge than you can shake a stick at. But more than that, the walking...oh the walking...

Tonight running from the Fantasmic show to the bus I think I did myself in. The rest of the week I've been fine but my flip flops are not the best to run in. Joelle had a bad day on Wednesday and her feet have blisters on them. Since then we have been taking it fairly easy.

Overall, I'm sure I've lost a few pounds, but I'm actually rather curious to the actual number.

On a good note, my dad went through surgery yesterday. They think the got all the cancer which is wonderful news. His lungs are still filling up with fluid which isn't good but it does sometimes happen.
Things are weird. Don't ask me why....

1. Fairie Tale - Rereading this book to get in the mood to finish All's Fairy. AWESOME BOOK. Wow what a great read. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it. I think I'll be ready to work on All's fairy once I'm done with it...

2. Money - I'm stressed about it. Yep. Bought a new digital camera for our wedding/honeymoon. Plus my dentist office finally figured out things with my insurance. I know I'm getting out of debt but right now money sucks. Oh well..tis life.

3. Work - It looks like it's I will be able to work from home one day a week coming up. This is pretty exciting but I'll need to work on clear goals for the day once I start this.

4. Price of Peace - It was a great IFGS game. Turned out very well. I just got done with my final receipts and such and I came in under budget. The only problem is we got less players than expected so I'm sure I'll lose money. Still, I'm happy with how it went.

5. WOW - My guild is really letting me down atm. I'm not sure if this is the place I want to be in the long run. Some of us colorado people talked about this the other day....I think I'll give it some more time but eventually I may have to leave.

6. Me - I'm in a strange place atm. Not good, not bad, very introspective.

I guess that's all the rambling I'm going to do today...

NLL Dispersal Draft

As NLL Insider broke to you last week, the National Lacrosse League did schedule and hold a dispersal draft today, in a draft that largely went under the radar - not announced by the league until late Friday evening, June 27.

The expansion NLL Boston Blazers held the first overall pick in a two round draft.

Check the results after the jump.

FIRST ROUND
1. Boston - Dan Dawson
2. Edmonton - Andy Secore
3. Chicago - Scott Self
4. Toronto - Craig Conn
5. Rochester - Lindsay Plunkett
6. Calgary - Bruce Codd
7. Colorado - Bruce Murray
8. San Jose - Mike Grimes
9. Philadelphia - Rob Blasdell
10. New York - Jamie Rooney
11. Minnesota - Chris McKay
12. Portland - Derek Malawsky
13. Buffalo - Greg Hinman

SECOND ROUND
14. Boston - Peter Veltman
15. Edmonton - Chris Seller
16. Chicago - Brad MacDonald
17. Toronto - Mike Attwood
18. Rochester - Matt Brown
19. Calgary - Pass
20. Colorado - Matt Ward
21. San Jose - Pass
22. Philadelphia - Luc Pinder
23. New York - Pass
24. Minnesota - Brad Dairon
25. Portland - Kyle McEwen

Stay tuned for more analysis, information on potential trades, the new NLL Boston Blazers’ Expansion Draft and 2009 NLL Entry Draft. And talk up the Draft on the NLL Forums!

The Arizona Sting were one of the league’s more successful teams on the floor, but struggled at the box office ‘going dark’ in 2008 before deciding to completely suspend operations in 2009 after the franchises was on the market for several months.

Arizona and Boston both used a nine-day work stoppage caused by Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations as an excuse to ‘go dark’ in 2008. (On Oct. 16th, the league cancelled its 2008 season when a deadline to reach a new CBA with the player’s association was not met. On Oct. 24, a new seven-year CBA was reached.)

The clubs were provided with the option to re-enter in 2009 by participating in an Expansion Draft or to receive back their rostered players from 2008. Arizona chose to reclaim their dispersed players for the 2009 season, while Boston was allowed another Expansion Draft. Boston players selected in last year’s Dispersal Draft have remained with their current clubs.

Boston was awarded a new NLL franchise in May of last year, after a 10-year hiatus from the league. The NLL held its initial Expansion Draft for the club on July 31, 2007. Partick Merrill was taken No. 1 overall by Boston and then selected with the No. 2 overall pick by New York in last year’s two-team Dispersal Draft. No date has been provided yet for the Boston Blazers new Expansion Draft.

The NLL Entry Draft was held on Sept. 1 last year and is expected to be held around the same time this year. Jordan Hall was the No. 1 overall selection to the New York Titans in 2008.
